Seminar 1: How to Pick a Great Bottle of Wine ~ The Spanish Edition
Like everything else in life, picking a great bottle of wine isn’t hard if you have a pro guide by your side. We were lucky kick off our Wine Seminars on March 22, 2018, with the amazing wine-pro Scott Mayger, former sommelier at the legendary New York City restaurants, WD-50 and Telepan. Scott led the full house on “How to Pick a Great Bottle of Wine ~ The Spanish Edition.” We welcomed folks from Red Hook, other Brooklyn neighborhoods, and Manhattan into the store, and everyone sampled numerous wines, accompanied by Chef Ralph Yedinak delicious take on traditional tapas.
Scott was like the college prof we all wished we had –informative, funny, and helpful. He provided invaluable information about the incredible diversity of Spanish wines and winemaking, and unraveled the mysteries of Wine 101: how to read the label, how to open the bottle, and color, aroma, taste and mouthfeel. Then the great part: we sampled sparkling Cava, crisp summer Whites and Rosés, and bold, aromatic Reds.
A big thank you to Scott Mayger and Chef Ralph Yedinak for providing the delicious treats. Last but not least, thanks to all who attended the event. A super fun night meeting new friends and learning about wine.
